Sophie Lewis

Sophie Lewis is a dedicated Senior at the University of Kansas, pursuing a degree in Biochemistry. Her love for science and research fuels her passion for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), driving her to inspire young girls to explore these fields. Through engaging talks and workshops, Sophie encourages the next generation to embrace math and science, showcasing the limitless opportunities they can offer.

A passionate advocate for young women in STEM, Sophie has been involved in pageantry since the age of six. As a titleholder, she has reached hundreds of young girls through speaking engagements at public schools, Girl Scouts, and Girlstart programs, championing her platform, Beauty in the B.E.A.S.T—Breaking Everyone’s Assumptions and STereotypes. She believes in demonstrating that being a pageant queen and a scientist can coexist, sharing her enthusiasm for both fancy dresses and lab coats.

Sophie’s journey into STEM was ignited by a defining moment in third grade when a peer dismissed her ambitions with a thoughtless remark. Instead of discouraging her, this incident sparked a fierce determination to prove that girls can excel in any field, including science.

As the reigning Miss International, Sophie is excited to travel the world, sharing her platform and inspiring young girls to pursue their passions in STEM. Her mission is clear: to show that science can be fun and that every girl has the potential to break barriers.
